On August 24th, 2013, we lost Rafaela Andrade (26) and Clara (2) in a tragic car accident. Rafaela had just finished her master in Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan, and her husband Arthur Ramos (26) was wrapping up his Finance Master degree at the University of Saskatchewan as well. They were newly married and had a beautiful little girl, Clara. That Saturday evening they were driving to Diefenbaker Lake to spend a hot summer weekend camping with some friends. The worst happened, and in a terrible two-car collision Rafaela died at the scene. Clara was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital and the amazing group of doctors and nurses did their best to keep her alive. Even though she did not make it, Clara and Children’s Hospital team of the Royal University fought hard for her life.

We, as their friends, and their family here in Saskatoon, are doing this event on anniversary of that accident to celebrate their lives in a fun way, and trying to give back to the community. The intent of this event is also to raise awareness to safe driving, the importance of organ and blood donation, as well as enjoy a great and fun afternoon with family and friends.
